Annually recurring HAI Lab events include the Cosmos Lecture in Human-Centered AI in Michaelmas Term, and the Philosophy, AI, and Innovation Seminar in Trinity Term.
The Philosophy, AI, and Innovation Seminar explores issues at the intersection of philosophy, AI, and technological innovation, co-taught by a philosopher and a technologist. The seminar has welcomed discussants from the technology industry sharing insights from their time at places including Midjourney, Anthropic, Imbue, Google DeepMind, Story Protocol, ex/ante, and Stripe. The focus of the seminar is on how a concern for human flourishing can be embedded in the technology development pipeline, and on exploring how broader bridges can be built between philosophy and technology. The most recent syllabus can be downloaded here.
The Cosmos Lecture in Human-Centered AI annually brings a distinguished speaker to the University of Oxford, in collaboration with the Cosmos Institute and St. Catherine's College. The inaugural Cosmos Lecture was delivered by Turing Laureate Leslie Valiant of Harvard University on "Educability". Watch the video here.
