She graduated summa cum laude from Barnard College, Columbia University, where she was awarded the Jonathon M. Gross Prize for Academic Excellence as the top graduate in computer science, and a 2024 Rhodes finalist. Whitney played a key role in a NASA-funded experiment on antibiotic resistance in microgravity aboard the International Space Station, designing and building the automated system for bacterial cultures. In addition, she previously interned at Meta and read computer science and philosophy as a visiting student at Oxford.
